The figurative birds in Haser’s work are a reflection of his ancestral heritage, a symbol of his tupuna and a gateway between this world and the afterlife. Haser describes the birds in his works as “The Watchers”, physical forms that have descended in to the next life that continue to hold a spiritual presence and light the way in this life.
